Where Does My Money Go?

Here are some of our 2002 donations and fundraiser's that have greatly helped the center.

The Kars for Kids program is growing.  The Arvada Sentinel helped with an informational article on vehicle donations to the Advocacy Center.  Six cars were donated throughout the year.  They were sold at auction and raised $3839.

The Advocacy Center again participated in the 9th Annual Pro-Am Cooking Classic fundraising event in May.  The theme was “Great American Moments,”  The Advocacy Center’s booth depicted the Wright Brothers’ First Flight.  It was another fun-filled evening that raised $7500 for the Center.

The Children’s Charity Ball is and has been the largest, consistent contributor to the Arvada Child Advocacy Center since the inception of both organizations.  After the ball in February, the Ball Board of Directors turned over the operation to a new board in August.  Staff will lend support to ensure a successful transition and ball for 2003.  The 2002 Charity Ball raised $16,700 for the Advocacy Center.

The annual Hero’s Party recognized two hundred children that have gone through the program at the Advocacy Center and the Jeffco Children’s Advocacy Center.  Staff offered volunteer support as well as making 100 gift bags for the children.

Spirit of Christ Catholic Community invited the Advocacy Center to participate in their Christmas giving program.  The Center received over 100 items that included coloring books, crayons, reading books, videos, games, toys, puzzles, snacks, hair and make-up items, dolls and gift certificates for food snacks and juices.

The community’s generosity was shown throughout the year with donations of blankets, stuffed animals, food snacks, candy, and videos as well as financial contributions.  The Kiwanis and business communities continue to offer financial support to the Child Advocacy Center through their annual golf tournaments.
